Completion of your matter
We cannot guarantee how long the Home Office will take to process your application.
We will normally be able to submit this type of application within 2-8 weeks of you instructing us, but we will let you know at the earliest opportunity if it is likely to take longer than this.
Disbursements
Disbursements are costs related to your matter that are payable to third parties, such as court fees. We handle the payment of the disbursements on your behalf to ensure a smoother process.
The fees quoted above do not include Home Office, Tribunal, Court or barrister’s fees which are treated as disbursements.
Key Stages
- Taking instructions – Discussing your circumstances in detail and confirming whether this is the most appropriate application for you to make and what other options may be available to you.
- Advising you – Giving you advice about the requirements of the Immigration Rules and whether you meet the criteria. If you do not fulfil certain criteria, whether this can be overcome and how, this on average takes 2-3 hours.
- Supporting documents and evidence bundle – Read, assess and consider the supporting evidence you have provided, which we anticipate will take 2-21 hours.
- Arranging to prepare and submit your application or lodge an appeal on your behalf -which we anticipate will take 6-120 hours, depending on complexity.
- Continue to act for you until completion – 8 to 56 weeks
Our professional fees
Fixed Fees
Our client care letter will include a detailed description of what we have agreed to do for an agreed fixed fee and a summary of the information which we received from you.
Hourly fees
Unless otherwise agreed our charges will be based on the time we spend dealing with your matter.
Time spent on your matter may include meetings with you remotely and perhaps others; telephone and mobile calls, texts and email correspondence; any time spent travelling and waiting; considering, reading and working on papers; preparation of any detailed costs calculations; correspondence, by letter or email, including perusal of incoming correspondence; photocopying and telegraphic transfer charges and making and receiving telephone calls. Where more than one fee earner is engaged on your matter either within one department or across two departments, we will charge you for the time spent between fee earners.
The amount of time spent on your matter will be influenced by the manner in which you respond to our requests for information. Timely provision of up-to-date information will help us to spend less time on your matter than might otherwise be the case.
The current charging rate that applies to our firm, and are exclusive of VAT, are as follows,
Senior Solicitors: £300.00 per hour – over 8 years post qualification experience
Assistant Solicitors: £250.00 – over 4 years post qualification experience
Consultants and RFLs: £200.00
Paralegals: £190.00
Case workers: £150.00
Trainee solicitors: £150.00
We review the above hourly rate(s) annually to take account of increases in our overhead costs and inflation.
